Letter from the Owner.
Welcome to Wolfkop Camping Villages. Just to give you a better feeling of the Camping villages, I have decided to tell you a little bit more about the history, work force, fauna and flora, activities which include hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, Fishing, star gazing, what to do around the area, you the guest, Vision, mission, Camping villages and chalets.
History
The Camping villages was started from my days working on my own tour operating company for countries that include Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, Transkei, Botswana, Namibia and Angola. Due to the unstable work environment I decided to rather focus my time on Accommodation than on Transport, which resulted in the Nature Reserve cottages, Farm cottages, Camping villages and Campsites that was started in October 2008. The following changes at the Camping villages have been made since we started as a result from feedback from you the customer.
Bigger Bedouin tents with higher roof area. Ice machines. Bags for all the kitchen utensils. Ash trays. Better ice boxes and signs up for hiking trail. Jungle gyms for the kids. Your future opinions and suggestions will always be appreciated.
Work Force
The whole team that is working with me lives on the farm Sewe Oliene and has been picking oranges all there life. Some of the non dedicated work force have left, but I can say with allot of proud that I know have very loyal, respectful and happy team. My goal is to uplift there lives so to give them privileges previously not available to them. Therefore I have created a bonus system after there salary which is related to there performance and quality of work after feedback from you the customer. In the past 2 years Kobus have earned a fridge, freezer, TV with dish and washing machine previous items which he never had. The other team members cleaning and maintenance managers Emma and Paullina have received an oven, TV, and they are busy saving for a washing machine. Api the Garden manager have only worked for me for 3 months, but already he is almost qualifying for a mountain bike. I have tried to encourage all team members to be creative, free thinkers and to give there input into the garden and natural décor inside; so that they can feel that they are part of the entity and not just an employee.
Fauna and Flora
Over 80 bird species have been identified by me on the Grootfontein farm. This include sugar birds, herons, Secretary birds and loads more, so please remember to bring your binoculars. Your best bet is to do a quiet hike early in the morning to spot the different mammals.
Activities:
Hiking: Please!!! Remember to Phone Annelize (R15 per person) on 073 2407078 when you are going on a hike on there farm as she needs to control the amount of people that are on the trail and for fire hazards. Remember to take water, hat and sunscreen with. The 8km hiking trail is very beautiful and covers the start of the wilderness parts of the Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Mountains with its famous rock formations and big variety of Fynbos. Mountain biking: Use at own risk!! No route is laid out, but please cycle on the farm roads. Star gazing: the air is very crisp and has no light pollution. Please use the sky map to identify constellations - or just make up your own. Best time to view shooting stars is after midnight. Fishing: Bass can be fished and the endangered Clanwilliam yellow tail is only on catch and release!!!
What to do around the area.
Go through the other lay out of activities, and routes to scenic drives.
You the guest (mission):
